Example of how a company can raise corporate culture by making aware the importance of soft skills such as professional image and business etiquette.

Carolina Tan, AICI CIP and Licensed IITTI Master Instructor, helping Union Bank of the Philippines and Insular Life-Life Insurance, Investments & HMO in soft skills on Jan 31, 2024.

The Union Bank of the Philippines, commonly known as UnionBank, is one of the popular banks in the Philippines and the ninth largest in the country by assets. UnionBank is a joint consortium among the Aboitiz Group, Insular Life and Social Security System, and an industry leader in advancing electronic banking in the country. Insular Assurance Company is a mutual life insurance company. It was established in 1910 in Manila and is the first Filipino life insurance company.

As the nature of banks and insurance companies deals with the general public with all different personalities, it is paramount that bank and insurance company employees be well-versed in all aspects of people skills in order to maintain a competitive edge.

Historically it was difficult to measure soft skills and culture, but with employees earning points on the World Civility Index, now HR can have solid numbers as KPI (key performance indicator) to use for internal performance review, while the CFO can have numbers for ESG (environmental, social, governance) report externally.

In essence, the “Index” can do good for company culture, good for ESG, and by extension, good for society at the same time. Feeding three birds with one seed!

Thank you Carolina for your leadership! Thank you Union Bank of the Philippines and Insular Life for making aware the World Civility Index to your people!
